Embracing Qualia: To Generate Life Out of Uncertainty
is centered around feeling. Qualia is a philosophical term created by C.S. Pierce to describe how we will never fully understand someone else-- from their thoughts, behaviors, emotions, experiences, and more-- because we cannot transplant ourselves into their psyche. This gap in our relationships to each other is the source of where the series was created. This body of work exists in a ‘void’ of unknowing. The work is about process, movement, and physicality. It nudges the viewer to sit in the discomfort of not knowing exactly what they are looking at.
